Our Veterinary Services & Fees

At Tarka Vets, we believe in transparent pricing. Below is a guide to our most common services and associated fees. Our aim is to provide excellent care at a fair price, and we are always happy to discuss estimates for any procedure.

Please note: This list includes many of our services and prices, although it is not comprehensive. Please ask one of our friendly team members for further advice or a detailed estimate for your pet's specific needs.

Consultations

  • First Consultation (cat/dog/rabbit): £52

  • Follow up Consultation (cat/dog/rabbit): £42

Vaccinations

  • Dog/Cat Booster Vaccination including health check: £60

  • Puppy/Kitten Primary Vaccination Course (1st & 2nd +/- 3rd vaccinations in a pack) including health check + Puppy/Kitten pack: £90

  • Kennel Cough (KC) Vaccination:

    • On its own: £60

    • With annual booster or puppy vaccination: +£30

For urgent care outside of our standard opening hours:

  • OOH Consultation (6 PM - 10 PM): £145

  • Surgical Procedures

Our surgical prices include the surgery itself, general anaesthetic/sedation, comprehensive monitoring, dedicated nursing care, any necessary drugs required during the procedure, post operative pain relief and two post operative checks.

Neutering

  • Bitch Spay

    • Small (<10kg): £300

    • Medium (11 – 24.9kg): £335

    • Large (25 - 39.9kg): £395

    • Giant (40+ kg): £450

  • Dog Castrate

    • Small (<10kg) : £195

    • Medium (11 – 24.9kg): £225

    • Large (25 – 39.9kg): £275

    • Giant: (40+ kg) £325

General Soft Tissue Surgery

  • Lump Removal

    • Small: £550

  • Wound Stitch Up*

    • Small: £300 (under sedation) - £450 (under general anaesthetic)

  • Complex abdominal surgery *

    Due to the range involved and the individuality of cases estimates will be given should surgery be proposed, ideas of costing are below

    • £1000-£2500 for Pyometra, Splenectomies, the majority of foreign body surgeries (where a object causing a blockage is surgically removed from the stomach or intestines), Cystotomies (removal of bladder stones and flushing of the bladder), Caesarean sections, exploratory laparotomies including biopsies and the majority of more involved surgical procedures

    • £1500-£3000 for GDV’s (where the stomach bloats and twists and requires surgical correction), Splenectomies requiring blood transfusions, very complex and extended foreign body retrievals.

    *Critical cases might need hospitalization for 12-24h post-surgery, hospitalisation fees are not included on the above prices.

    * Procedures performed out of hours will incur an additional out of hours nursing fee. Estimates will be given when procedures are proposed and we endeavour to keep our costs affordable while providing excellent care day and night.

Dentistry

Our dental prices include the dental itself, general anaesthetic, comprehensive monitoring, dedicated nursing care, any necessary drugs required during the procedure, post operative pain relief and one/two post dental checks.

  • Dental band 1: Dental cleaning and x-rays £295

  • Dental band 2: Dental cleaning, x-rays and up to 4 extractions £550

  • Dental band 3: Dental cleaning, x-rays and up to 8 extractions £750

  • Dental band 4: Major dental surgery with total or near total tooth extractions. This may be split over two procedures to avoid prolonged general anaesthetic time £1200 (including both procedures if split)

Diagnostic Imaging

  • Ultrasound Scan:

    • Pregnancy Scan: £150

    • POCUS (emergency scan)/Pyometra Scan: £85

    • Partial/Complete Abdominal Scan: £200 / £320, includes light sedation if required.

  • Echocardiography (Heart Scan): £425, includes light sedation if required.

  • Follow-up Echocardiography (during initial treatment): £275, includes light sedation if required.

  • Radiographs (X-rays): £300 - £800 (depending on complexity and number of views). This includes sedation or anaesthetic required for taking diagnostic images.

In-House Laboratory Work

  • Comprehensive Bloods: £160

  • Well Pet/Senior Pet Bloods/Medication Check Bloods: £90

  • Pre-Anaesthetic Bloods: £65

  • Comprehensive Urinalysis: £35

  • Basic Urinalysis: £20
